I grew up in Chicago, Illinois, in my mother's salon. She was a cosmetologist, and from the time I was 15 years old I was washing and styling hair alongside her. I did not think of it as a career then. I just knew it felt right. I was good at it. And people paid me for it.

I went on to graduate college with an Arts degree, but hair never left me. After relocating to Arizona in 2015, I worked in salons while figuring out what I was truly building. The passion was always there. The clarity came later.

In October 2019, I stopped waiting. I started as a Mobile Loctician in 2020, working out of barbershops and personal studios, learning what it meant to be a professional in the natural hair industry without a map or a mentor. By 2024 I took the biggest leap of my career and opened The Loc Loft by Ms. Ty in Phoenix. Eventually I made a decision that changed everything: I narrowed my focus entirely to my own brand and my own standard. No synthetic hair. No chemicals. No compromises.

Building The Loc University came from the same place everything else came from: the absence of something I needed and could not find. Growing up, we did not have the resources to guide us. We watched our parents hustle and mirrored that. But hustle without tools only takes you so far. I want to be the bridge our community did not have.

I am a Certified Master Loctician with over six years of professional experience, a 4.9 Booksy rating, more than 100 client reviews, and a track record of developing more than ten beauty professionals. The Loc University is everything I wish I had when I was starting out. Taught honestly, practically, and without shortcuts.
